Birthday gift registry anyone?

I find it amusing how people try to act humble with their "no gift necessary"policies; yet definitely expect one from the people they're closest to. On top of that, if it's not something we like, it's a disappointment whether we show our feelings or throw them away with the wrapping paper. The "it's the thought that counts" gift is only sweet from people we don't know well or on non-gift giving occasions.

I think in order to avoid having the above scenario from happening (poor Cookie Monster), having a birthday registry should become a common approach. It would be a cumulative one for all your gift ideas that don't have to all be given to you that specific year. Of course you'd be considerate and won't assume everyone saved up money that year for you. Weirdo.

It's just that it's ALWAYS someone's birthday. A registry would really save us some frustration induced migraines, n'est-ce pas?
